Cactus under a Roleadro 27w flowering LED

The Roleadro 75w led red purple horticultural light is a relatively inexpensive entry level indoor gardening flowering setup.
they are mostly sold online in 2 packs and come in usually under $50

They provide only the red blue purple end of the spectrum so are limited in their application unless you are growing plants that require flowering or have a specific purpose like node spacing etc. you may not need them.

Online you will see a lot of different advertising not only for the roleadro LED’s but for this spectrum led rig in general and all of the advertisements show big robust healthy plants growing and flowering looking top notch.

the problem is that 99.9% of those led setups are photoshopped into a stock photo with the hope you will be fooled into buying something that’s not going to give you the desired effect, at least not by itself and Ill explain why.

While these lights have a great output the spectrum is what your looking for (sort of) they are bright they produce low heat they last 50,000 hours which is over 1000 days straight use so they are head and shoulders above the standard indoor gardening MH or HPS bulbs of old, solely on their longevity. They are specifically designed to produce only the red and blue spectrum of light and that’s the problem its a big problem that’s like you trying to bulk up build muscle and only ingesting multi vitamins nothing else.

Ive tested these lights on a number of different applications from seedling starts for the vegi garden and cloning to vegetative growth and flowering pepper plants indoors. none of them was a resounding success not on their own anyway.

These lights simply do not supply enough of the spectrum to actually produce growth on their own at best they sort of keep the plant alive but alive like a mountaineer in the death zone alive but slowly dyeing and if left like that death in inevitable its going to happen and its only a matter of time.

There is zero growth in any stage even in seed starts where the plant has all the energy it requires within the seed itself to go for a while. you will see zero growth no real flowering nubs at best and that is on cast iron plants like jalapeno peppers that are almost impossible to screw up.

These lights only work when combined with another light source that provides the plants with the needed spectrum to allow vegetative growth and that includes flowering of any type as every plant that flowers needs to grow said flower and growth is in the side of the spectrum not provided by these lights.

Now having said that once you toss in another light source BOOM! boy howdy everything just explodes its especially noticeable if as I had you do not provide any other light source before hand for a decent period of time because you really notice the difference where the plant seems stunted and even a little weak on just the red blue diet to huge growth when provided a balanced light spectrum meal.

you can grow pretty much anything anywhere as long as you understand what it needs plus what and how nature provides it.

In the case of indoor plants like tomatoes and peppers you may need to step into a honey bee’s shoes for a day and taking a Q-tip brush each open flower a couple times so you transfer pollen from one to the next after that the plant will start producing fruits.

Now I was aware of such things but I’m admittedly newish to the LED light world (not new to horticulture or indoor gardening and equipment by any means though) and had like many others assumed that it should be fine I’m sure the manufacturer addressed this issue and knew what they were doing because if I needed another light source it would say so in the blah blah blah product description right?

Once I added a couple standard T5 led light bars I was quickly reminded buyer beware and that a plant cannot grow on red blue alone. the growth was amazing the plants were actually healthy and robust and it only took a couple of 4ft T5 bars combined with the Roleadro flower lights to really round things out great light spacing and coverage low power consumption amazing results low heat and best of all not hard on the wallet.

The hanging cables provided are 13.5″ connecting like a pyramid

So the actual drop between the hook and the light is 11″

I’m not going to get into the tech specs of the lights what the exact spectrum is what it produces etc because other sights do that and ultimately most people do not know and do not care what matters is does it work how well and how much the rest is pretty much just taking up space in our brain or for fanboys looking to impress you with their regurgitated knowledge.

These lights do work and relatively well they just need back up in order to achieve the desired results.
