This fix will work on the issues where devices are not found the list will not populate, your laptop is not visible to devices around it and where the troubleshooter says its fixed the bluetooth radio but it still does not work and probably many others as its driver related. I used Windows 10 for this but as the card was win 7 compatible I assume it will work with most older versions of windows as well

Recently I upgraded the network card on my laptop, when I purchased this ASUS G75VW it only had a 4G wireless network card and no bluetooth at all. I finally got around to reminding that issue and of course happened across another in the process.

I purchased a network card off amazon they are not expensive especially on older laptops like my ASUS G75VW ROG and you really do not need some high priced version as the tech is not overly different between the models and the very expensive ones are not discernibly faster than a cheap one.

Ok so the install went great the wireless was online and connected me to the house wifi 5G network with no issues, the Bluetooth came up and looked great all the icons and features were available the drivers said they were the most current versions and I was good to go.

Except that it was not working. The list searched and searched but nothing came up despite knowing there were a plethora of devices in range and ready to connect. I ran through everything I could find to troubleshoot this issue and everything I found and tried led to the same place Nowhere…

I kept coming back to the update driver section and spent a lot of time online checking for the right drivers. This is one of the main reasons Im posting this as its dangerous most of the sites I found for drivers in google searches were packed with malware and viruses the reputable sites like Microsoft and the manufacturer website had links that led to the drivers but the links were broken or did not work.

The trouble shooter kept fixing the same issue time and again even if I ran it back to back. The Radio Signal every time pressed the button it told me it fixed the issue and there was scarce little online available as to what this meant. More often than not the information was on the “NOT FIXED” issue not for it telling you it was fixed but was lying to you.

Ok as I said the drivers were up to date I also tried the update windows option and nothing happened with that either. here is the fix and its kind of silly.

In order to fix this issue you need to go to the windows update then below that there are options for additional optional updates you click those links and a list will pop up in that list for me anyway was an optional driver update for my network card.

WiFi 4g/5g and Bluetooth 4.0 card Amazon Canada $14

This update did not show up anywhere else in any list device manager told me I had the best ones installed and even the regular windows updates did not offer it. I had to specifically navigate to that section to find it AND the second it downloaded the Bluetooth sprang to life the list of several devices popped up including my phones and headsets etc

This worked for me when literally every other fix I found online did not, and I tried about 6 different lists of several options each. Im not going to include them here as others have done it and better than would so theres no point.

Search for the Device manager here
find and expand your Bluetooth and Right click on one (any one seems to work)

Click the search Automatically link

Regardless of what it says click the search for additional updates link

Click the View optional updates

Open the Bluetooth and see if the list has populated.
